Research interests:
A graduate of Bristol University and Washington University, St Louis, Paul is Professorial Research Fellow in Knowledge Management in the School of Business and Management at Queen Mary, University of London. He joined the School in September 2005. He is concurrently an adjunct professor at the School of Information at the University of California, Berkeley. From 2002 to 2005, he was part-time Visiting Professor at Copenhagen Business School. From 1989 to 2001 he was a consultant at the Xerox Palo Alto Research Center. He is an honorary research fellow at the Institute for Entrepreneurship & Enterprise Development at Lancaster University and a visiting researcher in business history at York University.
Paul is co-author, with John Seely Brown of The Social Life of Information (2000) and numerous other essays on technology, knowledge, organisation, and practice. His recent work focuses on the question of quality and related issues of authority, authenticity, and warranting in the information age. He is also exploring trademark and branding history.
