Applicant develops proposal and identifies potential supervisor(s)

Application made via admissions (online or by post http://www.qmul.ac.uk/postgraduate/howtoapply/)
SBM deadline for 1st round applications = 31st March (for September entry)
SBM deadline for 2nd round applications = 31st July (for September entry space/resources permitting)

SBM notified/sent documents of those qualifying for admission
↓
Potential supervisors consulted
Potential supervisors make recommendations for interview Y/N and rank applicants in their subject area(s)
↓
Selection committee draws up shortlist
(For studentships and self-funding students)
Selection committee = PhD Director, Research Director, at least one Research Committee member and/or potential supervisor
↓
Interviews held by selection committee
1st round interviews = May-June
2nd round interviews = early September
↓
Application decisions
1st round applicants = 30th June
2nd round applicants = mid September
