Since the Global Financial Crisis in 2007 and 2008 the role of finance in society has increasingly been questioned and challenge by a wide range of social movements. Issues considered will include; perceptions of the role of finance in the global financial crisis; inequality in society and the role of finance in perpetuating or exacerbating inequality; gender and diversity in finance and its effects on the culture of finance; as well as the limits of rationality that is assumed in financial models and the effects of the assumptions of rationality made in financial models in wider society.
