Queen Mary - China Scholarship Council Joint PhD Scholarship 2012
The School of Business and Management invites applications from outstanding Chinese students to undertake a three-year full-time postgraduate research degree programme based in London, commencing in September 2012.
Since 2007, Queen Mary University of London and the China Scholarship Council (CSC) have been offering joint scholarships to Chinese students from leading universities in the People's Republic of China for doctoral study at Queen Mary. The School of Business and Management is delighted to be able to offer two such scholarships for entry in 2012.
Upon successful completion of the requirements of the degree programme, the scholarship recipients will be conferred a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Business and Management by the University of London.
Scholarship Benefits
- Full tuition fee scholarship (in the form of fee waiver) for up to three years;
- Living allowance as prescribed by the Chinese Government for the term of the scholarship;
- One return air fare between China and London by the most economical route.
Please note that the tuition fee scholarship will be provided by Queen Mary while the other listed benefits will be provided by the China Scholarship Council. Neither the University nor the Council will be responsible for any other expenses.
Eligibility
Applicants must:
- be citizens and permanent residents of the People's Republic of China at the time of application;
- not have received any CSC scholarship within five years of the time of application;
- be interested in pursuing original research in one of the key research areas of the School of Business and Management at Queen Mary;
- have a Bachelor's degree with first or upper second class honours (or equivalent) and a Master's degree (normally at merit level or above) in business/management or a discipline related to the proposed research topic;
- meet the academic and English language criteria for admission to a PhD research degree in the School of Business and Management at Queen Mary;
- satisfy any other selection criteria as determined by the China Scholarship Council.
Application Procedure
Application for the Queen Mary/China Scholarship Council Joint PhD Scholarship is a two-step process.
Step 1: Apply for Admission to the School of Business and Management at Queen Mary
Apply to Queen Mary for admission as a postgraduate research student at the School of Business and Management by completing the online application form. To access the online application form, go to http://www.qmul.ac.uk/courses/courses.php?course_id=236&dept_id=3&pgcourses=1&course_level=1 and click the link on the right hand column. Please note that Scholarship applicants must choose to start in Semester 1. To ensure that applicants for the Queen Mary CSC Scholarship are identified and given priority for the processing of their application, all applicants for this scheme must send an email to international-admissions@qmul.ac.uk stating the student application number and identifying themselves as CSC applicants as soon as they have completed the online application form.
The application closes on Friday 20th January 2012.
The Admission Office at Queen Mary will communicate decisions to successful applicants by both email and post by Friday 24th February 2012.
Step 2: Apply for the China Scholarship Council Scholarship
Refer to the China Scholarship Council website at http://www.csc.edu.cn/ for details on how to apply for the CSC scholarship.
Please ensure that your application is made to the China Scholarship Council by the indicated deadline.
Please note:
- As soon as the China Scholarship Council has confirmed your scholarship, you should inform Queen Mary and confirm before July 2012 that you are accepting the offer of admission.
- The tuition fee scholarship from Queen Mary is awarded on the condition that you are successful in securing the CSC scholarship. (If you are not successful in your CSC scholarship application, you can still continue to undertake the postgraduate research degree programme at the School of Business and Management if you are able to secure alternative means of financing your tuition fees and living expenses.)
